    In Heaven

    $21.00

To say In Heaven is about conquering grief would be oversimplifying everything Tim Showalter has achieved on the eighth studio album from Strand of Oaks. A stunning, hopeful reflection on love, loss, and enlightenment, In Heaven is a triumph in music making, and a preeminent addition to the Strand of Oaks discography.  With clean sounds, Jeff Lynne-esque acoustics, and sophisticated songwriting, he approached ‘In Heaven’ in a more poised and pop-leaning way than his past releases.

    SPEAKING IN TONGUES

    $26.00

Speaking in Tongues, Talking Heads’ first studio release in three years, is the album that finally obliterates the thin line separating arty white pop music and deep black funk. Picking up where their 1980 Afro-punk fusion Remain in Light left off, this LP consummates the Heads’ marriage of art-school intellect and dance-floor soul. Imbued with an adventurous spirit that’s as close to Television’s Marquee Moon as it is to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Grand Master Flash’s “The Message” and Nigerian high-life music, Speaking in Tongues gives new meaning to the word crossover. -Rolling Stone from their 1983 Review

    Thirstier (Digital Download Card)

    $20.00

Recorded in the fall of 2020 at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, UK, Thirstier marks a turn towards a bigger, more bombastic sound for Torres.  Guitar-driven walls of sound, reminiscent of producer Butch Vig’s work with Garbage and Nirvana, surge and dissipate like surf in high winds, carrying Scott’s commanding voice to the fore.  One of the best albums of 2021, no question.

    Sunday Afternoon (Blue Marbled Vinyl)

    $25.00

Blue Marbled Vinyl. Sunday Afternoon by the Seattle-based instrumental soul group True Loves is as sweet and carefree as the imagery provoked by it’s very title. The soul outfit’s sophomore LP provides a soundtrack for a block party that summons the entire neighborhood. From the zealous, up-tempo opening track “S.O.S” to the swagger-filled fanfare title track, you’ll find yourself wandering down a familiar road, noticing the scenery while relishing in curiosity. While every track can stand alone on the airwaves, ‘Sunday Afternoon’ as a whole is a direct reflection of a band comprised of seasoned musicians, all forces to be reckoned with, but larger than life when together.
